For Dietmar Feichtinger, architecture has a serving function, like a stage that is taken up by the users and filled with life. The school center planned by his office in Gloggnitz, which combines several educational institutions and is also intended to serve as an event venue for the city, also reflects this approach.
Since the 1990s, Feichtinger has lived in Paris, where he was able to establish himself as an architect, his first commission being for a footbridge over the Seine, which attracted a great deal of attention. Most recently, Feichtinger’s office planned a redesign of the base zone of the Eiffel Tower, which was necessary for safety reasons. In Intermezzo, Dietmar Feichtinger talks about his approach to materials, his attitude as an architect, but also about current developments in the Paris metropolitan area.
