In the heart of Vienna’s third district, a land of 3,8 hectares is home of the first eco-district of the city and the largest in Europe. In total 740 units will be built. The buildings of the Eurogate are designed to be
livable without heating. The most crucial points concerns the insulation of 30 cm, the size of the windows and of course, the orientation of buildings to the south.
The building is equipped by triple glazing calculated in according to their position and orientation.
According to the German standard generally accepted in Europe, accommodation will be considered passive if it does not spend more than 15 kilowatts per hour per /m2 per year in heating energy.
