At the invitation of Mayor Elke Kahr, architect Dietmar Feichtinger visited Graz City Hall on 8 May 2026 ahead of being honored by Graz University of Technology. He was accompanied by his wife and founding partner of their joint practice Barbara Feichtinger-Felber, as well as family members and friends.
The delegation was welcomed by Vice Mayor Judith Schwentner together with Claudia Unger and Bertram Werle. In her address, Elke Kahr highlighted Feichtinger’s remarkable path from a young Styrian living in Paris to becoming one of Europe’s leading architects.
Together with Barbara Feichtinger-Felber, he achieved international recognition through projects such as the Simone-de-Beauvoir Bridge in Paris and the architectural development at Mont-Saint-Michel. The couple moved to France during the era of President François Mitterrand and his major architectural initiatives, while continuing to maintain close ties to Graz and Styria.
At the conclusion of the visit, Dietmar and Barbara signed the City of Graz’s Golden Book and presented the city with a drawing of a bridge.
