On September 11, 2026, the Jim footbridge was officially inaugurated, marking the completion of the Jules & Jim pedestrian and bicycle crossings between Mantes-la-Jolie and Limay.
Designed by Dietmar Feichtinger Architectes, the project restores a historic connection interrupted by the destruction of the medieval bridge in 1940.
Following the completion of Jules in 2019, Jim now reconnects the Île aux Dames with Limay through a lightweight contemporary steel structure carefully integrated into the preserved remains of the medieval bridge.
Combining respect for architectural heritage with contemporary engineering, the two bridges establish a continuous route for pedestrians and cyclists across the Seine, creating new connections between history, landscape and urban life.
